I found this young ladys site from a free PDF file she had made for a twitter friend. Her name is Rosa Martyn. Her blog is a good read, but this sampler from the V&A really caught my eye. Please go to her blog and read this sad tale.
The piece is 1600+ words detailing a woman’s struggle with her temptation to kill herself, and what that meant in her Christian upbringing. She also tells us how people she worked for threw her down the stairs and how Christ was her salvation.
The title of my blog is a quote from the late great George Burns. I love comedy, from Burns and Martin to Rock and Apatow. I'm a lowbrow artist from parents with a Bauhaus background, although we were still trailer trash. I grew up in Florida living between St. Pete and Weeki Wachee Springs. All the time around beautiful mermaids. These women are full figured visions of heaven. Along with all the roadside dino style gas stations, teepee motels and greasy spoons, its no wonder I love pin-up and lowbrow with all my heart. At forty six years old I have come to embrace who I am. God it feels good. Having been out of the design and modeling industry for a few years, it feels nice to design just for fun. I recently found out about ATC's and stamping along with post cards and journals. I find that most sites are mostly women, but that's alright. I don't mind if they don't. I will try to share things I have learned or that make me laugh or are insightful, but most of the time it will be things I find shiny or sexy or both…
